    Description:
This year, we shall be continuing our educational programme for GPs with a special interest in Gynaecology (first established in 2004).

We are planning to meet approx every 2 months in the Clinical School at Addenbrooke’s Hospital. The programme this year has been driven by the identified learning needs of the group and is being delivered by members of the group supported by the course leaders.

The programme is very much aimed at GPs interested in Gynaecology and prepared to lead on this within their own practice – to act as a resource within the practice and ensure referrals are appropriate.

This year we wish to particularly focus on clinical pathways – to look at how the patient currently accesses the different services and design more appropriate and efficient ones. Using QIPP (Quality, Innovation, Prevention, Productivity) to improve the services we commission for our patients.

Supper will be from 18.00 to 18.30, with the meetings taking place from 18.30 to 20.00.

Over that last year we have been asking out speakers to imagine this:

You are about to give a talk to a group of interested GPs. You were going to speak for 1 hour at an important international conference, but as bad luck would have it, you and a group of GPs have got stuck in the lift and your talk has been cancelled. However, you will be rescued in two minutes. Knowing what an interesting speaker you are and how passionately you feel about this area of your work, your colleagues plead with you to pass on some essential pearls of wisdom. What are your top tips in two minutes??!!!

Here, gathered together, are their 'Top Tips.'

Addenbrookes PGMC provides top tips as educational aid to clinical practice based on published evidence. The ultimate judgement regarding a particular clinical problem lies with the clinician directly involved and in light of information presented by the patient and the options available. These guides are not meant to be prescriptive.

THE 2009 TOP TIPS WILL BE AVAILABLE IN THE FIRST WEEK OF FEBRUARY (we apologise for the delay in publishing).

    Venue:
David Dunn Suite, Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge
    Description:
This training course is for all practitioners who work with infants from birth to 3 months old. Based on the Brazelton Neonatal Behavioural Assessment Scale (NBAS)*, it is an introduction to newborn behavioural states, stress signs and self-regulatory abilities. The NBO provides strength-based, individualised information and anticipatory guidance about the infant’s behaviour, as well as enhancing the practitioner-parent relationship, and parent-baby relationship. The two day course is followed by self- practice on 5 infants and submission of recording forms and a short parent questionnaire for an NBO Certificate of Completion.

    * The NBAS is recommended in the CHPP 2008 (now the Healthy Child Programme), Department of Health, Flying Start programme by the Welsh Assembly and for the Heads Up programme by the Scottish government.

**NBO manual not included in course cost. It is a compulsory requirement of this course that you purchase the manual (in the region of £50).
